The applicant submits an application for employment to the City of Gainesville
Human Resource Department at 200 S. Rusk St., Gainesville, TX 76240. The applications
may be hand delivered, mailed, or faxed provided that they are received by the

After
the application deadline, a date will be scheduled for the physical agility
test and written exam. Those who are certified or certifiable will be notified
by mail of the test date. Applicants will be given a time frame to confirm their
intent to test. Applicants must successfully pass the physical
agility test to take the written exam, which is comprised of both a basic
aptitude test as well as a Firefighting knowledge test taken from "Essentials
in Firefighting", 4th edition.

Those who successfully pass the written exam and the physical
agility test will be scheduled for an oral interview board. Personal history
statements must be completed and returned on the date of the oral interview.
Background investigations will begin.

The final candidate(s) will be called for a Chief's interview and will be required
to take a physical examination with drug screening.
